Another important function of the Project Management feature is the ability to track percent completion, job cost and the total cost of the entire project. Use the percent completion function to determine whether you are on budget - does the percent of the budget used match the percent of the project finished? Know in advance if you need to recalculate the project. The job cost system tracks your costs and income to date, projects future costs and income and predicts actual gross profit based on you efficiencies to date.
Broad Project Management: Gantt Charts
With Gantt Charts, see graphically how your organization’s resources are committed. This system makes it easy to anticipate scheduling conflicts for each department. See if each team will have too much or too little work in the upcoming weeks or months.
Project managers enter the estimated start date and duration of each phase of their projects. The Gantt Chart system always displays the combined commitments. As changes occur these dates are updated and the charts redraw to display the current status of your projects.
By anticipating periods of team overload or under utilization well in advance you have an opportunity to shift projects and balance your staff loading. This will eliminate the need to make last minute changes that can cause additional problems with staff, clients and other contractors. If a contractor delays a project by a week, you can easily see if that will create a conflict or solve a problem.
